Beth, I'd love to see where you got that from. I tried searching everywhere on griefing and blockade griefing, and only found two main things.

And from the Captain himself:

However, no matter where I looked, I couldn't find a thing that showed that what Chuck Norris did was griefing.

Now, if they were to only contest a few and then CONTINUE these actions, I think that's griefing based on the ToS alone. As is though, I don't see Chuck Norris simply trying to wear down the opponents will to fight. In fact, each blockade is against a different flag. If anything, it seems like they're just hurting themselves in the long-run.

Purely hypothetically then....

If Pirate A sent a tell to Pirate B, saying something along the lines of:

We are going to attack X number of islands today, some of which belong to your allies. We are also attacking one of your islands, not your main one.
If you help any of your allies today, we WILL attack your main island next weekend paying 4K + per segment, and will continue to do so until you are crushed.... And no you may not post the chatlogs on parley.

Would that be griefing?

That's a pretty detailed hypothetical... >.>

I like how summarizing gets around posting chatlogs as well.

Noushka, if somebody were to "hypothetically" do that, when their actions matched their threat, then yes it would be considered griefing. I don't think just saying it is is griefing, I think that is considered bragging, boasting, or bravado, not sure.

It is my understanding that you may very well post chat logs so long as you change the names of all those who do not specifically give you permission to post them. You can post what is said, just not necessarily who said it in other words.

Re: Ultimate Intent for Admiral

I don't know - depends on how they go about it I suppose if it's going to be considered officially griefing. However saying that does make them quite a manipulative asshat and I hope you laughed in their face and told them to bring it. <3

Sheesh. The lengths some people will go to to make themselves feel big and bad.

Re: Ultimate Intent for Admiral

If someone got banned for doing that...well, we might as well change the game's name to Yohoho Panzy Pirates. Its not greifing, its good politics.

Nope. Words aren't griefing unless they're intentionally vicious.

Side note: CN never said when they will attack Admiral, so assuming it will be next week just to prove a point doesn't really work.

Indeed it is. However, it is quite scary politics.

What price loyalty in alliances? Do we abandon our friends, as Pirate A obviously tried to scare Pirate B into doing? Do we give in to playground bullies?

We'll see what happens next, it may happen, it may not. If a large island is repeatedly attacked at high pay, well, it may change hands... And as Whitechops said, so far it is bravura, it may cross the line into griefing, time will tell.

I am not sure that a ban is the right way to deal with the problem, it would only be a temporary solution to an immediate problem, of course. I prefer to deal with my problems myself, and I kinda hope that the Sage community will solve it's own problems without running to teacher.

PS : Yes Lupe, "bring it on" was exactly the mind set :) We sleep at night :)

Re: Ultimate Intent for Admiral

There are ways and means to deal with flags that want to do the greevil attrition thing, Ask any ex-fandango type about Gladiators ;) Bottom line, is that if you want to play the "I have more money so I win" game, go for it. And watch others find interesting and harsh ways to make that suck for you.

It's just about being creative.
