Re: Boxing Day- Impromptu Writing Event- Win Crossed Spears!

It was a boxing day like any other boxing day, untill we took to the high seas in search of an island said to be cursed by the undead.

Through raging storms and thick fogs the brave crew sailed on, sailing ever closer to the unknown.

Through the skill of our Captain , our battered vessel finally reached land.
As our weary feet touched the shore, we were set upon by a band of zombies intent on enlisting us into their ranks, a mighty battle took place, which i am proud to say we won.
Four times we faced this unholy foe, with each win the Gods of the sea presenting us with a treasure vast and rich to carry with us homeward.

After the final fray, The Captain called us to our stations and we worked as one to try and leave this cursed place.

We once again braved the fogs, but this time the undead were not so keen to give up our souls.
A melee of vast numbers broke out, as the crew stood as one fighting for a common goal.
The numbers constantly changing amoungst the clash of steel and might.
Each pirate fighting to save the souls of all on board.

Just as it looked as if we may be granted leave of that cursed place another band of undead joined the fray, and took from us our last hope, and leaving us to sail the oceans from this boxing day on never to see home or to step forth on land again.

Crossed spears please if lucky enough

Re: Boxing Day- Impromptu Writing Event- Win Crossed Spears!

I've written the 'Enlightened One's' plans and views of the pirate's 'pillagemas' and his scorn of Boxing Day...I hope this is right haha, just reread it and may have done this completely wrong!
------

Ahh, Boxing Day. Funny thing, that. The pirates of the oceans send well wishes, 'Have a happy Pillagemas!', send gingerbread pirates and spend time with their crews by the fire. Pah! Boxing Day for the few Enlightened Ones is a different affair altogether. After the full meal of fallen pirate and sunken ship, washed down with barrels of shipwrecked rum, we retreat, to count the winnings of the year past. As the coins slip through our fingers, we grin in anticipation of more to come.

Three ships came sailing in. Yesterday morning, between the ritual and the reading of the tomes. Pah, the holiday joy ran straight to their heads! As they swaggered onto our island, bludgeons at the ready for a dawn attack, waving swords in their spare hands and giving their best impression of a menacing look. With a "slice-CUT, bash-SMASH! red RAIN RED rain red RAIN!"as the fable tells, we dice and devour the unlucky buccaneers. Such a shame, a loss. We carved their ship into masks, party masks! Celebration. Winning has never been so glorious. Perhaps we could hand them out as momentoes; a warning, maybe. Paint them in the blood of the fallen.

Boxing Day. They want boxing, they can come get boxing. Bring it on, with your hooks, your gloves; the cultists are ready and waiting. It's Red Rain Day for our followers, you play by our rules. Step your sorry feet on our island and you become one of us, sooner rather than later. We don't recieve presents, other than the willing volunteers who attempt to defeat us, but rather, taunt, tease pirates with false promises. Fetish jars, bone boxes, cursed chests. We shake the bountiful fortune as we chant around your feeble crews. Win? Pirates? There is no chance. Red Rain Day is when we are at our strongest; we prefer to tease you like a ship rat being clawed at by the Captain's cat. Forage away, mateys. The only 'boxes' today are the storage crates you and you crew will be placed in.

Boxing Day. You're looking for indigo, mateys? The rich, purple-blue hue of the Cursed Isles? Indigo is scarce right now, matey. We aren't prepared to give it away, willy-nilly. You have to earn it. Today, Boxing Day, or perhaps as it should be known, Bottling Day. We bottle the blood of the fallen pirates, mix in the blue blood of the aristocratic yet feeble Brigand Kings and create the dye you mateys lust after. Not so excited now, are we?

Boxing Day. The Rafts of the Dead are looming. For every fallen cultist there must be revenge. And on a day like today, oh! sweet Red Rain Day! What better way to start the season, eh? Lift your spirits, my pirates! Sail on over to a Cursed Isle, we have a surprise for you.

'Twas the night after Pillagemas. We scoffed as you staggered from inn to in under the cursed moonlight, spilling your cheap swill on cobbles, running into the sea and tainting our water. Boxing Day. Now as Red Rain Day is in full swing, we prepare our final plan for the day. Those Cursed Effigies you pirates craved, the feeble dolls concocted using the hair of lost crews and voodoo. They aren't just cursed by name, you ignorant fools. They are the extension of the Cursed Isles; every doll introduced into yours, your children's home will bring death and destruction to the pirate who owns it. Blood on your hands for every cultist you have attacked. Prepare for the boxing, the bottling the rituals and the indigo.

Hope you had a 'happy Pillagemas', pirates. And be prepared for the night of Boxing Day, as Red Rain Day is only just beginning...

Winner is Peggy. Contact me in-game for your crossed spears!

Morgana gets a bludgeon trunk because it was an awesome story but was a couple hundred words short.
